ICESA – Bringing out the Superhero in you
By Ashmika Chottu
Was it a bird? Was it a plane? No, it’s Superman! ICESA, one of KZN’s leading private education providers has taken to the street a one-of-a-kind activation featuring our all-time favourite superheroes, who are meeting and greeting the community.
Held on Friday, 16 February at intersections and robots in Durban and Pietermaritzburg, ICESA representatives who were kitted out in costumes which included Superman, Captain American, Spiderman and Flash among others, grabbed the attention of people who asked questions to find out more.
The idea behind this campaign was to highlight to students that there is a superhero within all of us and no one should doubt their capabilities or ignore their passion. Fictitious yet powerfully significant, superheroes are aspirational and create a desire within people to want to do and achieve more.
ICESA therefore felt that this was an apt concept to motivate and inspire students to follow their dreams and choose a career that suits their passion. Another highlight on the programme was the flash mob dancers who took over the taxi ranks with their electric moves, all in the name of entertainment.
Brand manager for ICESA, Tracy Govender said that this activation brought about a great sense of excitement on the street and at taxi ranks as many showed their eagerness to pursue their studies. “It was such a great sight as people walked up to us to find out how they can study to get ahead in life. There is no right age to study. Studying is open to anyone who is passionate about education and willing to work hard to achieve their qualification.”
Many people questioned if studying further would be possible without having obtained a matric certificate, however ICESA has a solution. ICESA has a dedicated matric school that focusses on helping the student achieve their matric certificate as they would in a traditional school classroom. From Grade 10 to 12, ICESA can equip the student with the necessary skills and knowledge to complete their schooling career.
A key benefit of an ICESA matric school graduate is that upon receiving their matric qualification, the campus has many post-matric options available to the student. This helps the student transition seamlessly from high school through to tertiary. Faculties include Management Studies, Computer Studies, Public Relations and Hospitality.
Within these faculties, students can choose between Diploma or Certificate programmes. These include Diplomas in Information Technology, Marketing Management, Accounting, Journalism and Public Relations as well as Certificates in Food Preparation and Cooking, Office Administration and Bookkeeping among many others.
Tracy added, “While helping students follow their passion to getting into their dream profession, ICESA has tried to make the studying experience easy and convenient for students by offering full-time and a part-time basis. Students can then choose to work while they study towards their matric, Diploma or Certificate.”
ICESA City Campus (Pty) Ltd is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a Private Higher Education Institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997, and accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). Registration Certificate No: 2000/HE07/001.
