Higher Education and Further Education
So what is the difference?
It is important to understand the education environment, where learning programmes are categorised as national qualifications, short programmes or programmes certified by an agent body. A National Qualification bears a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) identity number and is formally accredited by the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance Body (ETQA) such as the HEQC of the Council on Higher Education (CHE), UMALUSI or a SETA.
Higher Education (HE) learning programmes fall within Levels 5-10 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) whereas Further Education & Training (FET) qualifications are on NQF levels 2-4.
All ICESA courses are aligned to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). This means that your qualification has credibility and will be recognised in the marketplace.
